Are you fitting into your life, or is life fitting around you? Welcome to The Marketing Accelerator Podcast, featuring three insights in about three minutes. I'm Drew Dinkelacker. I had a client tell me that I have a talent for making the obscure obvious. If you have a marketing conundrum, then let's talk, get some answers. Today, I'm speaking with Bob Regnerus. He's the founder of SPARK Sessions and SPARK Tee Time. That's a private, immersive golf experience designed to ignite your SPARK through honest conversation, powerful reflection, and the surprising wisdom of play. Bob, how do I know if I'm fitting into my life?
Bob Regnerus: It feels like life is tight. You're playing a role that you didn't actually choose. That's what it feels like. People come to me when they're overwhelmed, when they're stuck, and when I dig deeper with them, we uncover a pattern. They are actually shrinking themselves to a size that no longer feels right for them. Thinking about Caitlin, a recent client of mine, she was struggling with her relationship. She was struggling in her business. She had actually evolved as a person, but she was still trying to fit an old version of herself into that box.
Drew: So, how do I break free of the fit-in life?
Bob: It's really about permission, and the permission you're giving yourself is to imagine and to imagine more for you. It's not a fantasy. It's actually a possibility. The idea here is that most people haven't done this, Drew, in a really, really long time, and this is the real work. You have to figure out what your old programming is. That old programming is standing in the way, things like, I don't deserve this, or that's not realistic. These are things we say to ourselves. With Caitlin, what it was about, we had to really name what she truly wanted, and the idea was we had to pull out the weeds, and it's not by force, but it's really through awareness, and that awareness gave her permission, and that permission was to build a business and a life that she actually wanted and it fitted who she currently is.
Drew: Okay, so how then is this different from the old concept of thinking big?
Bob: Yeah, thinking big sounds great, Drew, but it's really not deep enough. The idea here is thoughts are driven by something deeper, and it's called beliefs, right? And if you think about this, you're a gardener. If you are trying to get weeds out of your garden and you only cut off at the surface, you know those weeds come back strong and true, and so it's about getting to the roots. We've got to dig down below the surface and pull those things out. So in life, roots are your beliefs, and we have to decide, you know, we change our life by changing the roots, and we have to change those inner beliefs to really change what we see. The fit-around life, it's not about chasing more. It's actually about building something that reflects who you are. It reflects your truth. It's more centered. It's more grounded, and the idea here is that people, Drew, are living a version of themselves that is two sizes too small, and they don't even know it until they try on this new size, and it starts to see that it really fits them perfectly.
Drew: So to create a fit-around life, give yourself permission to imagine and let go of those limiting beliefs.
